Baby Pouch, Baby Papoose or Baby Sling:

A pouch sling is a circle of fabric with a curved seam. It may be single or double layered. Pouches rest across one shoulder, with the baby held in the curved pouch part. They have a wide shoulder strap which provides even weight distribution by forming to the shoulder and pulling through the back, not the neck. Just the right amount of fabric keeps older infants and toddlers safe and secure, without overwhelming newborns. Baby papooses (pouches) are made from either cotton or spandex and come in sizes small, medium, large and extra large or can be ordered to your size. They can be used from a newborn baby to a toddler of up to 35 lbs.

They are very easy to put on and take off as they have no rings or adjustment straps and can be easily folded into your pocket or bag. It requires very little knowledge to know how to use a baby sling and one can aquire this knowledge very easily compared to other baby carriers. A baby papoose can go over either shoulder left or right and if not used correctly or used for very long periods of time it could become uncomfortable. If you have a new born baby you can lie them in the pouch in a cradle position or if your child is older you can use the baby papoose as a hip carrier. Baby papooses should be the correct size measured from shoulder to opposite side hip. Their should not be too much room left for the sling to move around. The baby should rest close to the parent

Breastfeeding is also an advantage of using a pouch. It is possible to breast feed while using your papoose in a cradle position providing you with privacy.

There are two types of baby pouches. The first is where the top is narrow across your shoulder as it has already been folded over. Baby products that use this type of baby sling are Little Kiwi Slings, Dulce&Zoet, Snugglez and Siddha-Stuff. The second type of design you have to fold yourself and open the pouch at the bottom. Peanutshell, Nelly, Hotslings and Kangaroo Korner all need to be folded before use.

Because baby pouch slings are simple in design you often have a great range of patterns, styles and colours to choose from and they can be very fashionable. They are reversible meaning you have more than one colour or design to choose from. Slings have come into fashion as many celebrities use them.
